FUEGO contra el FUEGO
NUESTRA MISIÓN · OUR MISSION
FUEGO Contra El FUEGO, Art de Consciencia, is a cultural initiative dedicated to supporting courageous resistance artists and expanding opportunities for artistic freedom through exhibitions, performances, and public dialogue across South Florida.
Not a single exhibition, but an ongoing initiative. Past editions have gathered exhibitions, poetry readings, musical performances, and Art Basel programming featuring resistance artists — a living archive that continues to grow with each new gathering.
FUEGO Contra El FUEGO presents THE CRIME OF CREATION.
An ongoing cultural initiative — a platform where artists, thinkers, and community members shape a shared conversation edition after edition.

Meet the communityWhere The Crime of Creation Began
THE CRIME OF CREATION was born from the FUEGO Contra El FUEGO community. Conceived by filmmaker and artist Gabrielle Alexander together with cultural organizer Ivette Domínguez, the project grew from years of community organizing, artistic collaboration, and conversations around memory, censorship, and creative freedom.
Alexander and Domínguez first met through the Cuban-American activist community in 2021, where both participated in youth organizing connected to the Asamblea de la Resistencia Cubana and the Directorio Democrático Cubano. Those experiences shaped the questions that would eventually become THE CRIME OF CREATION.
What began as conversations about art, memory, and freedom evolved into FUEGO's first immersive theatrical experience — a natural extension of the exhibition into lived participation.
Visitors move from the immersive performance directly into the FUEGO exhibition — from participants to witnesses, and from witnesses into members of an ongoing archive.
