About the Production
The Crime of Creation is a bilingual, participatory immersive theater experience in which guests enter a Cuban artist’s home, encounter a private collection, share a meal, and become witnesses to a night that changes everything.
In Little Havana, Miami, The Crime of Creation invites audiences across a theatrical threshold into La Casita: the home of Manuel, an artist who has spent years safeguarding the paintings and stories others were afraid to exhibit.
Full synopsis
What begins as an exuberant Cuban gathering—art, conversation, food, music, and laughter—takes a different turn when authorities arrive to inspect the collection. Audiences are not passive observers. Their identities, conversations, and contributions become part of the action. The work asks who gets to decide what can be shown, what gets recorded, and what remains after someone is taken away.
Participation is always voluntary. Performed in English and Spanish.
